Death Before Dishonor
A woman accused of stealing money from the late CHARLTON HESTON has been sentenced to more than five years in jail.
Sharon M. Walker, 56, gained access to Heston and his wife's financial information after working at a business management firm, where she was a manager.
She allegedly used her position to embezzle $158,000 (GBP79,000) from the acting legend's account, plus another $568,000 (GBP284,000) from The A-Team TV producer Stephen J. Cannell.
Prosecutors claim she forged signatures to pay her credit card debts for six years between 1999 and 2005.
Appearing at Los Angeles Superior Court on Friday (20Jun08), Walker pleaded no contest to two counts of grand theft and one count of tax evasion.
A judge sentenced her to time behind bars, as well as ordering her to pay back almost $82,000 (GBP41,000) in unpaid taxes.
John Leslie has insisted he is "completely innocent" after being arrested and questioned on suspicion of rape.
The former Blue Peter was questioned in connection with an allegation of rape and sexual assault in 1995.
In a statement to journalists in London he said the fresh claims were "totally untrue" and accused the claimant who is granted anonymity of "dragging my name through the mud".
The 43-year-old was previously acquitted on two counts of indecent assault on a 23-year-old actress by Crown prosecutors in August 2003.
Mr Leslie added that he now feared a second "trial by media".
Last night a spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said: "We are investigating an allegation of rape and indecent assault on a woman.
"The allegation dates from November 1995. At approximately 19:00 BST this evening a man aged in his 40s attended a London police station by appointment and was arrested in connection with the inquiry.
"He was interviewed and has been bailed pending further enquiries to a date in August."
The Sun newspaper reports that the alleged 1995 attack took place at a party at Mr Leslie's London home.
The involvement of Edinburgh-born Mr Leslie in connection with the alleged rape of TV presenter Ulrika Jonsson was implied on a Five talkshow after the publication of her autobiography - though she herself had not named him - while he later faced charges of attacking a different woman twice between May 25th and May 28th in 1997.

MICHELLE WILLIAMS has dismissed reports she is snubbing the premiere of BATMAN BEGINS sequel THE DARK KNIGHT because of a bust-up with her late boyfriend HEATH LEDGER's parents.
Reports suggest Williams wouldn't attend the screening of Ledger's last complete film, because she is angry with Ledger's father Kim's handling of the actor's estate.
But her representative Mara Buxbaum insists the claim is "absurd".
She tells People.com, "The presumption that Michelle ever intended to attend The Dark Knight premiere is unfounded, but to say she is 'boycotting' due to a rift with Heath's family is absurd.
"It is time to allow this family to go about their lives without this continued scrutiny and speculation."
Ledger's parents and sister will jet to New York from their home in Australia to attend the premiere on 14 July (08) - six months after Ledger took a fatal overdose of prescription drugs at his Manhattan home.
