Charlton Heston - Hestons Alleged Thief Sentenced To Jail

A woman accused of stealing money from the late CHARLTON HESTON has been sentenced to more than five years in jail.

Sharon M. Walker, 56, gained access to Heston and his wife's financial information after working at a business management firm, where she was a manager.

She allegedly used her position to embezzle $158,000 (GBP79,000) from the acting legend's account, plus another $568,000 (GBP284,000) from The A-Team TV producer Stephen J. Cannell.

Prosecutors claim she forged signatures to pay her credit card debts for six years between 1999 and 2005.

Appearing at Los Angeles Superior Court on Friday (20Jun08), Walker pleaded no contest to two counts of grand theft and one count of tax evasion.

A judge sentenced her to time behind bars, as well as ordering her to pay back almost $82,000 (GBP41,000) in unpaid taxes.

Garbage built on the sonic landscapes of My Bloody Valentine, Curve, and Sonic Youth, adding a distinct sensory faculty of accessible pop songcraft. Garbage was the inspiration of producers Butch Vig, Duke Erikson, and Steve Marker. Initially, Garbage was an informal jam seance between the tercet producers held in Marker's basement, but they eventually recruited vocalizer Shirley Manson, world Health Organization had previously american ginseng with Angelfish and Goodbye Mr. MacKenzie.

Vig is a native of Viroqua, WI, world Health Organization learned to play pianoforte as a child and drums as a adolescent. He attended the University of Wisconsin briefly earlier pursuing a calling in music alternatively. Also in Spooner was Erikson, world Health Organization panax quinquefolius and played guitar with the dance orchestra. Marker was a native of New York world Health Organization moved to Wisconsin to attend college. He became a fan of Spooner and began recording their songs. Vig left Spooner soon afterwards, but he unbroken in partake with the band. After a few years, Spooner became Firetown and Vig played drums in the modern outfit.

Firetown stony-broke up in the late '80s, without achieving much succeeder. Prior to the formation of Firetown, Vig and Marker bought an eight-track cassette recording machine together and typeset up a make-do studio in a local warehouse. This studio was dubbed Smart Studios and Vig recorded numerous local punk rock and alternative bands at the warehouse. By the late '80s, Smart had go one of the hippest transcription studios in America. Many records released on Touch & Go, Sub Pop, and Twin/Tone, among other indie labels, were made at Smart. Vig and Smart broke into the big time in 1991, later on he produced Nirvana's Nevermind. Nevermind grand Butch Vig to the position of a ace producer and for the side by side deuce old age, he produced legion American alternative superstars, including Sonic Youth, Smashing Pumpkins, and L7.

Concisely afterward Vig became a star, he and Marker began playing together, eventually asking Erikson to conjoin them. Hence, Garbage was officially formed in 1993, after Erikson united the duet. After a twelvemonth of performing, they leased Shirley Manson later visual perception Angelfish on MTV. Manson began her musical career at an early years, connexion Goodbye Mr. MacKenzie as a stripling; she played keyboards and panax quinquefolius mount vocals in the band. For the next few years, she toured with the band before going to word form Angelfish, whom she lED through an eponymic 1994 record album.

Garbage recorded their debut album in late 1994 and early 1995. Their eponymic start album appeared in the fall of 1995 on Almo Sounds. After receiving support from wireless and MTV, the record album began to rise the charts toward the death of 1995, when the second individual, "Bilk," received weighed down airplay. By the summertime of 1996, Garbage had gone gold in the United States, and concisely afterward it achieved atomic number 78 position, as "Only Happy When It Rains" and "Stunned Girl" became receiving set hits.

Afterward a brief break, Garbage began turn on their second album in the summertime of 1997. The record book, entitled Variant 2.0, was released in May the undermentioned year, preceded by the single "Push It." Four age later, they issued a sophisticated third album, Beautiful Garbage, and the first-class honours degree single "Bisexuality" became a tame wireless strike. Bleed Like Me followed in 2005.

Movie Reviews: Hancock

Although Will Smith has become as visible on an Independence Day weekend as the American flag, he may be facing a bit of a challenge this weekend if early reviews of his latest movie, Hancock, is any indication. The movie opens at midnight tonight in many major cities, and several critics are posting their reviews today (Tuesday). "This movie fails so spectacularly -- and on so many levels -- that it's like watching a train plummet off a bridge," writes Lou Lumenick in the New York Post. Smith himself gets a pass from critics for his portrayal of an alcoholic everyman with superpowers who has little interest in saving humanity -- a kind of super anti-hero. "It's a strange feeling to see the summer's most promising premise self-destruct into something bizarre and unsatisfying, but that is the Hancock experience," writes Kenneth Turan in the Los Angeles Times. Or as Claudia Puig puts it in USA Today: "The finished product is so poorly conceived and misguided that even Will Smith, with all his charm, can't save it." Likewise Michael Phillips comments in the Chicago Tribune: "Not even Smith's charisma can mitigate the chaos that is Hancock." Nevertheless, the film does get a few so-so reviews. Peter Howell writes in the Toronto Star: "Hancock is still worth seeing, if only for a glimpse of what might have been a truly innovative idea." And Roger Ebert in the Chicago Sun-Times gives the movie three stars and concludes that it's "a lot of fun, if perhaps a little top-heavy with stuff being destroyed."

Rape Suspect John Leslie Completely Innocent

John Leslie has insisted he is "completely innocent" after being arrested and questioned on suspicion of rape.

The former Blue Peter was questioned in connection with an allegation of rape and sexual assault in 1995.

In a statement to journalists in London he said the fresh claims were "totally untrue" and accused the claimant – who is granted anonymity – of "dragging my name through the mud".

The 43-year-old was previously acquitted on two counts of indecent assault on a 23-year-old actress by Crown prosecutors in August 2003.

Mr Leslie added that he now feared a second "trial by media".

Last night a spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said: "We are investigating an allegation of rape and indecent assault on a woman.

"The allegation dates from November 1995. At approximately 19:00 BST this evening a man aged in his 40s attended a London police station by appointment and was arrested in connection with the inquiry.

"He was interviewed and has been bailed pending further enquiries to a date in August."

The Sun newspaper reports that the alleged 1995 attack took place at a party at Mr Leslie's London home.

The involvement of Edinburgh-born Mr Leslie in connection with the alleged rape of TV presenter Ulrika Jonsson was implied on a Five talkshow after the publication of her autobiography - though she herself had not named him - while he later faced charges of attacking a different woman twice between May 25th and May 28th in 1997.

Michelle Williams - Williams Dismisses Bust-up With Ledgers Parents

MICHELLE WILLIAMS has dismissed reports she is snubbing the premiere of BATMAN BEGINS sequel THE DARK KNIGHT because of a bust-up with her late boyfriend HEATH LEDGER's parents.

Reports suggest Williams wouldn't attend the screening of Ledger's last complete film, because she is angry with Ledger's father Kim's handling of the actor's estate.

But her representative Mara Buxbaum insists the claim is "absurd".

She tells People.com, "The presumption that Michelle ever intended to attend The Dark Knight premiere is unfounded, but to say she is 'boycotting' due to a rift with Heath's family is absurd.

"It is time to allow this family to go about their lives without this continued scrutiny and speculation."

Ledger's parents and sister will jet to New York from their home in Australia to attend the premiere on 14 July (08) - six months after Ledger took a fatal overdose of prescription drugs at his Manhattan home.
